Ironically, it is compuserve that protected users most...that ID number traveled with you everywhere, no matter what your chat room name was, so you could be located and reported, and also tagged as a friend. I was very happy in those early days and still miss them. Increditable speed!<br />Later, when more and more forums were closed, the "internet" got increasing attention and the price politcs let me cancel my membership short before the end of the sevice.
